Federal Funding Supports Celebration of Western Canadian Cowboy Heritage

Member of Parliament John Barlow announces support for the Willow Creek Gathering


STAVELY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - April 14, 2015) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Government of Canada has provided the Willow Creek Cowboy Poetry and Music Society with $2,000 in funding through the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program in support of the 15th edition of the Willow Creek Gathering.

John Barlow, Member of Parliament (Macleod), announced this today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

Activities at this year's gathering will include musical performances, poetry readings, and art exhibitions featuring the work of local artists and artisans.

  • The Willow Creek Gathering will take place from July 10 to 12, 2015, at the Stavely Arena.

  • The Willow Creek Cowboy Poetry and Music Society is a local, non-profit organization whose mandate is to celebrate the art, culture and artistic heritage of the community of Stavely and its surrounding communities in southern Alberta.

  • The Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in activities that present local arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage.
