Trifacta Names Sachin Chawla as Vice President of Engineering

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 15, 2015) - Trifacta, the leading data wrangling solution for exploratory analytics, today announced that Sachin Chawla joined the company as vice president of engineering. Over Chawla's more than 30-year career, he has been focused on creating innovative solutions to transform, replicate and cleanse data. He brings a unique combination of deep domain expertise, significant executive management experience and a record of entrepreneurial accomplishments to the growing Trifacta team. Prior to joining Trifacta, Chawla held leadership roles at Skytree, Informatica, Oracle, GoldenGate, Business Objects, Acta Technology and IBM.

Chawla will lead the engineering organization at Trifacta, building on top of the company's success as the top-rated vendor in the end-user data preparation market. According to Gartner, by 2017 most business users and analysts in organizations will have access to self-service tools to prepare data, reaffirming the need for the Trifacta solution. In the last fiscal year, Trifacta more than tripled its client portfolio and revenue. Chawla rounds out an executive team with decades of experience at leading technology firms and top-tier academic institutions.

From early on in his career, Chawla established a track record of entrepreneurial success within the data integration industry. He co-founded Acta Technology in 1996 and was instrumental in establishing the company as a market leader in real-time data integration for packaged applications. During this time, the product functionality and customer base expanded and revenue grew more than 10 times. Acta was acquired by Business Objects in 2002 and subsequently became SAP Data Integrator, a foundational component of SAP's business intelligence and analytics platform.

After successfully integrating Acta Technology into Business Objects, Chawla joined GoldenGate Software as the vice president of product development. At GoldenGate, Chawla was responsible for scaling the engineering organization and delivering an enterprise grade solution to support a rapidly expanding customer base of Global 2000 customers. During this time, the GoldenGate install-base grew 10 times and the company's annual sales increased to over $50 million. After being acquired by Oracle in 2009, GoldenGate became the fastest growing product in Oracle's data integration portfolio and one of the most successful acquisitions in its history.

Chawla then moved to Informatica in 2010 and served as senior vice president of data integration and quality. There he oversaw product management and product development for Informatica's core platform. While at Informatica, the data integration platform grew its customer base to more than 5,000, achieving more than $300 million in software revenue and becoming the leader in the Gartner Data Integration Magic quadrant. Chawla was also responsible for incubating new initiatives like Informatica PowerCenter Big Data Edition and Informatica's data virtualization offering. Additionally, he managed a number of key acquisitions in complex event processing, real-time replication and low latency messaging.
