Telguard Launches SafetyNet, Industry's First Pay-On-Demand Cellular Pathway

Available on Telguard's TG-SCI Alarm Communicator for Simon XT/XTi Panels

LAS VEGAS, Apr. 15, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- (ISC West 2015, Booth#18109)Telguard, a leader in wireless alarm communications, interactive and home automation services, today announced its new SafetyNet feature, the industry’s first dual pathway for alarm transmission that combines broadband with pay-on-demand cellular service. SafetyNet is first available on Telguard’s new cellular alarm communicator, the TG-SCI for the Simon XT/XTi security panels.

For security dealers, SafetyNet offers the best of both worlds by combining the low recurring cost of broadband with the always-on, reliable protection of cellular. The TG-SCI communicator with SafetyNet leverages Wi-Fi as an opportunistic path for alarm communications. Wi-Fi is an easily accessible connection that most end users already have at home, but it can occasionally go down. The SafetyNet feature was designed to allow cellular to immediately back up Wi-Fi in those cases when the broadband pathway becomes unavailable. And as a further safetynet for dealer’s profits, the first two cellular signals each month are free in the event that cellular service is needed in response to the temporary loss of the broadband path.

“SafetyNet is a true paradigm shift for the security industry. It allows security dealers to leverage the low cost of broadband without sacrificing the safety of immediate cellular alarm delivery,” said Shawn Welsh, VP of Marketing and Business Development, Telular. “Pay-on-demand cellular is really what makes our solution unique. You only pay for cellular when you use it and we include a couple of signals each month to help dealers avoid ever needing to pay for it. As long as Wi-Fi is the primary pathway each month, signal forwarding stays under one dollar. SafetyNet ensures that customer’s safety and dealer’s profits are always protected.”

With the 2G Sunset quickly approaching, the TG-SCI with SafetyNet is an ideal way to upgrade any installed 2G Simon XT/XTi panel. It’s as easy as plugging the TG-SCI into the Simon panel’s existing radio slot. Onsite registration with the newly launched Telguard Installer Tools app makes the entire upgrade process even easier. The free app allows a technician to register a Telguard device, check signal strength and more, all while onsite.
