Support for Yanessa Days in La Loche

LA LOCHE, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwired - April 17, 2015) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Government of Canada is providing $9,500 in support of the Yanessa Days festival. This funding is provided through the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program.

Rob Clarke, Member of Parliament (Desnethé-Missinippi-Churchill River), made this announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

• The 32^nd edition of Yanessa Days will take place August 20-23, 2015 in La Loche, Saskatchewan.
• Funding from the Government of Canada will make possible a variety of activities, including traditional fiddling, drumming, jigging and pow wow dancing.
• Local artisans and heritage presenters will demonstrate traditional arts such as beading, antler carving, tipi raising and canoe building.
• An estimated 2,500 people are expected to attend this year's festivities.
