Escape From Bowden Institution-Minimum Security Unit

INNISFAIL, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - April 17, 2015) - Correctional Service Canada

On April 16, 2015 during the 10:30 p.m. count in the minimum security unit at Bowden Institution, staff members discovered that Sylvain Martin was not accounted for.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) immediately contacted the Innisfail detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and a warrant for his arrest has been issued.

Sylvain Martin is 50 years old, measures 165 cm (5'5") in height and weighs 67 kg (148 lbs). He has a fair complexion, blue eyes and auburn hair. He has scars on his lower back and his eyes, and, tattoos on the right forearm, upper back, and lower back. He is currently serving a sentence of 9 years, 11 months, 17 days for Fraud, Obstruct Police/Peace Officer, Personation with Intent to Gain Advantage, Fail to Comply with a Probation Order, Possession of a Schedule I Substance, Utter Forged Document and Forgery.

Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Sylvain Martin is asked to contact police.

CSC is investigating the circumstances of this incident and working with the police to locate the offender as quickly as possible.

CSC has given the police all of the information available to help arrest the inmate.
