Media Advisory: Equal Pay Day Events Across Ontario (April 20, 2015)


TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 20, 2015) - April 20 2015 is Equal Pay Day for the province of Ontario. To mark the occasion, the Equal Pay Coalition is calling on the provincial government to implement the commitments Premier Kathleen Wynne made towards closing Ontario's 30 percent pay gap between men and women.

Several events are scheduled to mark this day, including wearing "red" to recognize that women are still "in the red."

April 20th Itinerary:

WINDSOR: 8:00 a.m. UNIFOR workers to wear red (official colour of equal pay day) - shows that women are "in the red" in terms of pay, Windsor

KINGSTON: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 pm: Information tent Queen's University Campus, Kingston

LONDON: 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.: Community call to action at the corner of Talbot and King, London

TORONTO:

8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.: Community call to action event at the intersection of King Street & Bay Street, Toronto.

10:00 am to 1:00 pm: Community call to action event at the intersection of University Avenue and College Street Toronto.

10:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.: Coalition members will be in Legislature for Question Period.

11:30 am - 11:55 a.m.: Photo op with MPPs wearing red following Question Period. Queen's Park, outside Legislative Assembly (weather permitting) or main staircase.

12:00 pm: News conference and media briefing session at Queen's Park Media Conference Room.

12:30 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.: Rally and Speeches at University Avenue and College Street.
