Enservio to Present Webinar on Water Loss Insurance Claims

April 23 Webinar to Cover Adjuster Best Practices for Water Loss Contents Inventorying

NEEDHAM, MA--(Marketwired - Apr 21, 2015) - After hurricanes and tornadoes, winter storms are the third-largest cause of catastrophe losses. From 2005 to 2014, overall losses caused by combined winter and flood disasters cost the US economy $55 billion plus $20 billion in insured losses, according to estimated data by Munich Re. Flood events alone accounted for 183 natural events and nearly 300 fatalities during this same nine-year period.

Enservio, Inc., the leading provider of software and services across the entire value chain of contents claims processing, today announced a webinar to be held Thursday, April 23 on "Best Practices for Inventorying Contents in Water Loss Claims." To register, please click here.

"Last year's Farmer's Almanac predicted a terrible winter of heavy rains and snowfall. Obviously, they got it right," said Scott Petlewski, Training Director for Enservio's Service on Site catastrophe team. "With record-breaking snow piles causing ice dams to form and melting snow to flood homes, we thought now's a great time to present a webinar on managing water-related contents claims."

Insurance Information Institute reported that water damage and freezing, seepage from ice dams on roofs and foundations, busted pipes and to a lesser extent roof collapses, account for almost 22% of all homeowners insurance claims and average $4,024 per claim.

However it doesn't require severe weather or super storms to cause water damage to a home. A high water table, poor land grading, a broken water main or something minor like a leaky plumping fixture can cause major damage to a room. Undetected or hidden pools of water in a crawlspace or basement can lead to costly structural damage and mold. Adjusters can face challenges in documenting water damaged contents.

The webinar will examine best practices to better manage onsite inventory reporting from water damaged property. Contents inventorying for water-related damages will cover such issues as:

  • Safety precautions, preparations and protective gear
  • Pre and post walk-throughs with the policyholder
  • Best practices for documenting contents
  • Photography and reporting tips
  • Inventory process best practices

Adjusters, claim reps, claim managers, claim supervisors, claim directors and anyone dealing with non-restorable contents claims will benefit from this rare opportunity to learn tips and techniques for best managing water loss claims.
