Honda Issues Recall on Takata Airbags and Frank Ancona Honda Reminds Kansas City Honda Owners to Check the Vehicle Recall List

OLATHE, KS--(Marketwired - Apr 21, 2015) - Frank Ancona Honda, a Kansas City Honda dealer, is reminding people in the KC metro area that Honda and Acura owners are advised by Honda Motor Co. to take immediate action to check if their vehicle is on the Takata airbag inflators recall.

John Mendel, executive vice president of the automobile division of American Honda Motor Co., Inc, said in the press release issued by Honda, "The goals of this campaign are to save lives and prevent injuries. Honda hopes that this new consumer information campaign will bolster our existing and continuing efforts to reach our customers and maximize the vehicle repair completion rates associated with recalls to replace Takata airbag inflators. These ads are a strong call to action from our company designed to break through the clutter, grab the attention of customers driving affected vehicles, and urge that they get required repairs as soon as possible."

To see if your vehicle is affected, visit the Honda recall page of the website (or the Acura recall page) and enter your vehicle's VIN. You can also call 1-800-999-1009 for Honda owners and 1-800-382-2238 for Acura owners and select option four. If your vehicle is included in the Takata airbag inflators recall, visit an authorized Honda or Acura dealer to have it serviced. If there is a delay while getting your car repaired, Frank Ancona Honda will provide a free-of-charge rental car or loaner vehicle.

The general vehicles that are affected include: 2001-2007 Honda Accord, 2001-2005 Honda Civic, 2002-2006 Honda CR-V, 2003-2011 Honda Element, 2002-2004 Honda Odyssey, 2003-2007 Honda Pilot, 2006 Honda Ridgeline, 2003-2006 Acura MDX, 2002-2003 Acura TL, 2003 Acura CL, 2005 Acura RL. However, it is still recommended that you check your specific VIN.

Honda is taking a comprehensive approach to identify and locate the affected vehicles as well as urge Honda and Acura owners to take their vehicle into a dealership for a free repair if theirs is part of the recall. 5.4 million Honda and Acura vehicles are affected in this Takata airbag inflators recall.

Serious injuries and a couple of deaths have occurred as a result of the defect in certain Takata airbag inflators from owners who did not take their vehicle in for repairs after the recall was announced. Frank Ancona Honda, in line with American Honda Motor Co., wants customers to check their vehicle and bring the car in immediately for an airbag inflator replacement if their vehicle is listed for recall.

If you haven't already received notice in the mail, print out the results of your VIN search and contact Frank Ancona Honda.
