Mason & Hanger Receives ACEC Engineering Excellence Honor Award for Asymmetric Warfare Group Project

LEXINGTON, KY--(Marketwired - Apr 23, 2015) - Mason & Hanger (M&H), a leading provider of architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) services for the U.S. Government in defense and federal projects has received a national Engineering Excellence Honor Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) for the company's recent success with its Asymmetric Warfare Group (AWG) project. This award honors the latest Mason & Hanger-designed 490-acre Asymmetric Warfare Training Center in Ft. A.P. Hill, Virginia -- a critical facility for the AWG. M&H worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk District to provide a state of the art facility that supports the AWG's unique mission. The AWG is a special missions unit of the United States Army that develops special tactics, techniques, and procedures to solve problems faced by soldiers including countermeasures to defeat current and emerging threats. The project consists of a total of 41 buildings with an extensive network of roadways, train tracks, sidewalks, tunnels and parking lots.

"These new complexes provide real-world simulations to better prepare trainees with enhanced experience prior to deployment," said Mick McAreavy, President, Mason & Hanger. "We are very thankful for this prestigious award. This project is a demonstration of how Mason & Hanger has critically supported the success of military training and operations for the past 100 years," he added.
