Government of Canada supports the Aberdeen Cultural Centre and the Escaouette Theatre Cooperative


MONCTON, NEW BRUNSWICK--(Marketwired - May 14, 2015) - Department of Canadian Heritage

Robert Goguen, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Member of Parliament (Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe), today announced financial support totalling $131,400 for the Aberdeen Cultural Centre and the Escaouette Theatre Cooperative. He made this announcement on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, and the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport).

The Aberdeen Cultural Centre will receive $38,400 to present the Acadie Rock Festival and $45,000 for a special component of the festival, the Square of the Americas. The Escaouette Theatre Cooperative will receive funding of $48,000 to help cover part of its 2015-16 programming. The funding comes from three programs: Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage, the Development of Official-Language Communities Program, and the Toronto 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games Community Celebrations Fund.

  • From August 8 to 15, 2015, the Aberdeen Cultural Centre will present the 4th edition of the Acadie Rock Festival in Moncton, which will highlight the talents of 73 local artists.
  • The Acadie Rock Festival is marking Toronto's hosting of the Pan Am Games in 2015. Its presentation of the Square of the Americas will paint a portrait of the various regions of the Americas through artistic, cultural, athletic, culinary, and many other types of experiences.
  • In 2015-16, the Escaouette Theatre Cooperative will continue to build into its programming a variety of creative activities for the general public, such as the Festival à haute voix and a drama writing contest for high school students.
