Veterans Trading Company, LLC vs. Paul M. Costello Litigation

OCALA, FL--(Marketwired - May 13, 2015) - On April 30, 2015, Veterans Trading Company, LLC (VTC) filed a lawsuit in Utah State under Civil No. 150902921 against a former officer of VTC for the return of monies paid to him during a time when he later claimed he was on active duty for the United States military. That suit claims fraudulent non-disclosure, conversion, and breach of fiduciary duty in connection with his employment. VTC has a long history of supporting members of the armed services, and has a clear policy in place for employees who are asked to return to active duty, requiring notice, and welcoming those employees back to work at the conclusion of their active service.

The United States Department of Justice has now filed a lawsuit in federal court against VTC on behalf of that same former employee, seeking damages under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). VTC has not yet been served with the federal court complaint. If and when it does, the company will vigorously defend itself from what it considers as a baseless attack from a former employee who wilfully violated company policy and engaged in deceptive conduct including collecting a full salary from VTC during the alleged period of his claim of being on active military duty.
