DigitalTown Appoints Rob Monster as CEO

MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwired - May 18, 2015) - DigitalTown, Inc. (OTCQB: DGTW) today announced the appointment of Rob Monster to the position of Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect.

Rob Monster was previously Founder and CEO of Global Market Insite (GMI) of Seattle, which was acquired in 2011 by WPP Group in an all-cash acquisition. From 1999 through 2006, GMI was among the fastest growing companies in the USA, achieving annual revenue growth rates of over 100%. Mr. Monster has since been a Seattle-based angel investor with a particular emphasis on Internet software, as well as Founder and CEO of Epik.com, a Seattle-based registrar and webhost.

Darv Habben, a respected Minnesota-based entrepreneur has also joined the board. Mr. Habben has been voted Chairman of the Board, by unanimous consent of the board, to be effective May 31, 2015. Richard Pomije, previously Founder and CEO of DigitalTown, will resign from the board effective May 31, 2015. Mr. Pomije will stay on with the company as an operating executive of the company. Jeff Mills remains on the board as the company's Secretary.

DigitalTown is currently building out a network of nearly 21,000 high school sports portals in the United States using a strategic domain portfolio that was largely assembled in 2005. The company is now on track to launch its much-anticipated integrated national network of online sports portals in Q3 2015.

"DigitalTown is well positioned to provide game-changing solutions for online community management. Our initial emphasis for the balance of 2015 is going to be the rollout of more than 20,000 high school portal sites powered by DigitalTown's unmatched portfolio of domain names that have been meticulously maintained for nearly a decade," explains Rob Monster, the company's newly appointed CEO.

Richard Pomije, Founder and outgoing CEO of DigitalTown, led the executive search process for DigitalTown. Commenting on the selection of Mr. Monster as new CEO, Mr. Pomije reflected, "As a Founder, the prospect of handing over the reins to another CEO is bittersweet. Rob is an uncanny match for our business needs at this time. I am confident that Rob is the right person for the mission we have in front of us. I thank the board for their enthusiastic endorsement of this CEO appointment and also for their cooperation and support of the company during the transition."

Mr. Monster, who has hit the ground running, concluded:

"I want to thank Richard and the board for their faith and confidence in selecting me as their CEO at this critical juncture in the company's history. Over the past decade, the consumer Internet technology landscape has matured greatly. Online media publishing concepts that would have seemed like futuristic fantasy in 2005 will soon be a reality for millions of high school sports enthusiasts in the USA and beyond. The upcoming rollout will kick off an exciting chapter, both in the history of DigitalTown, but also in the sports media industry."
