Intelligent Product Solutions Launches New Internet of Things (IoT) Product Design Consulting Practice

New IoT Practice Focuses on Wearables, Home Automation, Health and Industrial Automation

HAUPPAUGE, NY--(Marketwired - May 19, 2015) -  Intelligent Product Solutions (IPS), a leading product design and development consultancy, today launched a new product design practice focused specifically on the burgeoning Internet of Things (IoT) segment. Leveraging its expertise in IoT, the new practice provides companies with complete software and hardware design services for IoT products, from prototype through manufacturing and application deployment.

"Our new IoT product design practice is a natural extension of our award-winning product design work, and solidifies our focus on this fast-growing area of new products," said Mitchell Maiman, President of Intelligent Product Solutions. "We have already demonstrated our success and expertise in IoT design, and have decades of experience in wireless technology, connected devices and applications leveraging cloud-based resources."

IPS will offer a range of IoT product design services for categories such as wearables, home automation, healthcare, industrial automation and more. Specific services include:

  • Conceptual development
  • UX/UI design
  • Feasibility studies
  • Security
  • Design for manufacturing

Prior to starting the Internet of Things practice, IPS was already excelling in IoT product design for clients such as AdhereTech and Canary. For AdhereTech, IPS helped design smart pill bottles, featuring audible and visual alerts to remind patients to take their medications. The smart pill bottles send notifications to patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals when patients do not take their medication, helping to improve adherence to medication.

For Canary, IPS helped design a "connected" home security device that features motion detection and a camera, monitoring a home for safety along with air quality, humidity, temperature and more.

In addition, IPS helped integrate IoT technology into an existing HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) appliance, including design of the interface between WiFi and the existing HVAC controls.

"Many talk about IoT based solutions, but IPS is uniquely positioned to help clients identify value propositions and then execute on product visions including sensor integration, wireless communications, Cloud based storage and analytics through to user-centered applications featuring actionable information," said Maiman.
