Field Law Community Fund Program Seeks Community Input to Select Program Finalists

Regional law firm opens voting phase to public with $100,000 available for distribution

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - May 21, 2015) - Field Law, a regional law firm with offices in Calgary, Edmonton and Yellowknife, requests the community's input in helping determine what community causes or ideas should be awarded funds through the Field Law Community Fund Program (the Program). The Program, which launched the online voting phase at www.fieldlawcommunityfund.com, has received more than 100 applications, a new record for the fund granting program which supports local pay-it-forward ideas and causes within the communities. In celebration of Field Law's 100th anniversary, the Program will donate $100,000 across all three regions in 2015: a $25,000 increase over the first two years of the Program.

Through a combination of community online voting and deliberation by a local judging panel, finalists will be announced. A total of $40,000 will be allocated within the Southern Alberta Market, another $40,000 within the Northern Alberta Market and $20,000 within the Northwest Territories Market. The voting process allows the public to have a say in what projects are needed most in their communities.

"We've been a part of some of these communities for 100 years," says Jim Casey, Managing Partner at Field. "We recognize the importance of the public's input in helping us make the best decision on the use of funds and how we can better aid our fellow community members long-term."

With additional funds available for distribution this year, Field Law is eager for the Program to achieve even greater success and make a deep and lasting impact in the community.

"Field Law is proud to be celebrating 100 years, something we couldn't have achieved without the support of the community," said Doreen Saunderson, Partner at the Calgary office. "We are pleased to be able to give back to causes and initiatives that have the ability to further enrich the Calgary community. We look forward to the valuable input that will be gained from the public in helping to determine this year's recipients."

Field Law is deeply invested in the communities they serve. Their preferred causes include (but are not exclusive to) those that support education, healthcare, at-risk youth, homelessness, women's organizations, community and sports, or arts and culture. Last year's recipients for the Southern Alberta market included the Calgary Counselling Centre's Defy Depression initiative, the Developmental Disabilities Resource Centre's Saturday Children's Learning Program and Horizon Housing Society's Stampede for All.

The Community Fund Program has launched firm-wide at all three of Field's offices in Edmonton, Calgary and Yellowknife. To view the applicants and share your vote, visit fieldlawcommunityfund.com by June 18, 2015.
