Echo360 and Cengage Learning Extend Partnership to Give Faculty and Students New Tools to Engage Before, During and Beyond Class

RESTON, VA--(Marketwired - June 02, 2015) - Across the country, colleges and universities are working diligently to ensure that students are progressing toward their degrees. Research shows that increased student engagement has a significant impact on a student's success.

To enable greater student engagement, teaching and learning platform provider Echo360 and Cengage Learning, a leading global education company, have extended their partnership to combine textbooks and digital instructional materials with advanced student engagement tools for the classroom. The goal of this collaboration is to provide faculty with easy, affordable access to innovative engagement solutions to drive improved student learning outcomes in U.S. universities and colleges.

Under this partnership, faculty using Cengage Learning course materials receive free access to Echo360 student engagement tools. Upon faculty approval, access to Echo360 will also be provided to students, allowing for better engagement with course materials, the ability to ask questions during class in an anonymous and risk-free way, and a means to engage with instructors and peers any time and from anywhere. In addition, faculty have free access to powerful learner analytics to identify at-risk students and measure learning outcomes.

"Student access to instructional materials is critical to success, and we believe that the lecture represents the most important instructional materials for any course," said Fred Singer, CEO of Echo360. "Our partnership with Cengage Learning provides students with the real-time tools that make it easier for them to interact with faculty during and beyond class. We are glad to be working with Cengage Learning to ensure that all learners have access to baseline content necessary for success."

The Echo360 mobile-enabled platform allows students to participate during class, ask questions in an anonymous and risk-free way, and take notes that are aligned to lectures and other content for easy review; and then collaborate and engage with course materials, instructors, and peers any time and any place. Students can also request that the professor revisit complex material that they might be struggling with, all during class.

"At Cengage Learning, we believe that engagement is at the center of learning and therefore our solutions are designed to engage and motivate students to achieve their individual potential and goals," said Pam Snow, Senior Vice President and Director of Strategic Customer Partnerships, Cengage Learning. "Through our newly extended partnership with Echo360, we continue to deliver on our commitment to provide superior solutions for customers with even greater access to opportunities to engage with course materials, instructors and peers both inside and outside of the classroom."
