Government of Canada Supports Start-Up of Serres Toundra Inc.

Serres Toundra to establish a greenhouse complex for the production of English and Lebanese cucumbers in Saint-Félicien with funding support from the Government of Canada


SAINT-FÉLICIEN, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - June 16, 2015) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the firm Serres Toundra Inc. has been granted financial assistance to start up a greenhouse production business in Saint-Félicien, in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean.

This support is being awarded in the form of a $3 million repayable financial contribution through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program.

  • This investment will be used to build a hydroponic greenhouse complex and to acquire equipment for the start-up of Serres Toundra Inc.
  • The greenhouse intends to produce English and Lebanese cucumbers year-round, thereby ensuring an ongoing local supply of these vegetables while also keeping the provincial and national markets supplied.
  • This project represents an investment of more than $38 million and is expected to create some 100 jobs.
