Morpho Supplies Chinese Airports With Advanced Explosives Detection Solutions

BEIJING, CHINA--(Marketwired - June 17, 2015) - Morpho (Safran), through its subsidiary Morpho Detection, today announced it has supplied more than 500 Itemiser® explosives trace detectors (ETD) and 30 CTX™ explosives detection systems (EDS) to screen passengers, carry-on luggage and hold baggage for explosives at airports throughout China.

For nearly 20 years, Morpho has worked closely with leading airports in China to integrate advanced explosives detection solutions to meet evolving threats, global security regulations and growing passenger traffic demands. Through a nationwide network that includes sales, service and local partners and suppliers, Morpho is currently present in more than 80 airports throughout China.

"China is an important market for Morpho, and we look forward to continuing our long-standing work to help enhance security capabilities at airports throughout China," said Karen Bomba, president and CEO, Morpho Detection. "By combining field-tested explosives detection solutions with a global service footprint and rapid response capabilities, Morpho has created unmatched, end-to-end solutions for airports of all sizes."

The world leader in computed tomography (CT)-based EDS for hold baggage screening, Morpho's CTX family of EDS helps airports screen hold baggage faster and with fewer false alarms in the most challenging airport environments. Morpho's Itemiser family of ETD systems, used for checkpoint screening and hold baggage alarm resolution, can detect and identify traces of explosives on skin, clothing, carried items, bags, vehicles and other surfaces.

Morpho's CTX 5800 and CTX 9800 DSi EDS are certified to screen hold baggage by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and are approved by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) as meeting Standard 3 requirements. Morpho's Itemiser 3 Enhanced ETD is certified by CAAC for screening passengers and baggage in China.
