Legacy Health Selects GetWellNetwork for Interactive Patient Care

Health System to Adopt Company's Patient and Family Engagement Solutions Throughout Its Six Hospitals Based in Metropolitan Portland and Southwest Washington Areas

BETHESDA, MD--(Marketwired - June 18, 2015) - GetWellNetwork®, Inc., the leader in Interactive Patient Care™ (IPC) solutions, today announced that Portland, Ore.-based Legacy Health has selected GetWellNetwork as its IPC provider for its network of six hospitals. The new agreement will provide patients and their families with access to personalized, interactive educational content in more than 1,000 beds over the next three years.

In 2012, Randall Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel adopted IPC technology for its pediatric patients through the use of GetWellTown™. GetWellTown is the first and only IPC system developed for pediatric patients and their families that lets them learn, play and stay connected with friends and family while in the hospital. After implementing IPC, Randall Children's has recognized improved patient engagement and accountability as demonstrated by a significant increase in health education completion rates.

Legacy will implement GetWellNetwork Inpatient™, the Interactive Patient Whiteboard™ and myGetWellNetwork™ across the health system's five other area hospitals: Legacy Emanuel Medical Center, Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center, Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center, Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center, and Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center. GetWellNetwork Inpatient brings interactive, educational content to patients at the bedside using a patient's in-room television. The Interactive Patient Whiteboard serves as a central communications exchange between patients, families and care team members. myGetWellNetwork keeps patients and their families connected to their care plan at home or any point along the care continuum.

As it is with Randall Children's, GetWellNetwork will also be integrated with EpicCare EMR (electronic medical record) throughout Legacy Health, including education orders and results, medication teaching, and Epic MyChart patient portal. "GetWellNetwork will let patients and their families connect to and interact with their care plan from any location," said John Jay Kenagy, Ph.D., FHIMSS, senior vice president, chief information officer and chief information security officer for Legacy. "This is crucial to Triple Aim-driven system change and improved patient care."

"As a nurse, I know firsthand the impact that Interactive Patient Care has on education, safety and satisfaction, and readmissions," said Carol Bradley, R.N., senior vice president and chief nursing officer for Legacy. "We are excited to take what we've learned and experienced at Randall Children's Hospital and extend that knowledge across our entire health system."

"Legacy Health is leading the way to improved care and clinical outcomes for patients in the Pacific Northwest," said Michael O'Neil, founder and chief executive officer of GetWellNetwork. "We could not be more proud to expand our support of their efforts to engage patients and families in their care journey, and help them live their best lives."
