Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation has presented this year's Supplier Sustainability Award to suppliers Harting KGaA and Dellner Couplers AB. The award recognises suppliers' accomplishments in the field of sustainable development and their commitment to Corporate Responsibility (CR). Products and services that meet Bombardier's high environmental and safety standards strengthen Bombardier's competitive advantage on the market, while evolving sustainable business practices reinforces the company's claim of shaping the future of mobility, responsibly.
Harting KGaA was honoured in the category of suppliers with more than 1,000 employees in recognition of its proven excellence in all sustainability areas, in particular the environment, labour conditions, fair business practices and supply chain management. Harting has demonstrated top sustainability performance that includes implemented actions and external certification.
Dellner Couplers received the award in the category of suppliers with less than 1,000 employees for its formalised sustainability approach through targeted policies on environment and ethical business conduct. They have put in place structured mechanisms to deal with policy violations. They have also taken the concrete action of reducing energy consumption through innovative technologies in addition to reducing CO2 emissions from transportation.
Bombardier Transportation suppliers are nominated for the Supplier Sustainability Award for their ongoing commitment to CR and assessed according to the standards set out by the recently founded rail sustainability procurement initiative Railsponsible. The evaluation focuses on both the achieved score and proactive initiatives that add value to Bombardier Transportation's business. The awards were presented by Bombardier Transportation's Chief Procurement Officer, Charles O'Donnell, and Christoph Schwärzler, Director Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy during Suppliers' Day 2015 held this week in Berlin, Germany where Bombardier Transportation's headquarters are located.
Bombardier puts mechanisms in place to enhance the sustainability of its procurement processes by addressing supply chain risks and ensuring efficiency and economic viability. It promotes respect for business ethics, human rights and internationally sanctioned labour standards across its global supply chain. Suppliers who are among Bombardier's key stakeholders play a crucial role to contribute to the company's long term business success and to reaching Bombardier's strategic goal of achieving flawless execution.
