Make-A-Wish(R) Canada Appoints New Chair and Director to National Board


TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - June 25, 2015) - Make-A-Wish® Canada is pleased to announce that Kenrick Sproul, vice-chair of the National Board of Directors, has recently been appointed chair. Mr. Sproul, director, learning and development and senior program manager, OpenText Corporation, succeeds past chair, Bob Winterford, in this new role. Peter Noonan, managing director, licensing, Disney consumer products, also joins the board as an incoming director.

"Not only is Kenrick a strong organizational strategist and leader, but he, and his wife Sandra, are the parents of two of our courageous wish kids, Rashan and Hannah. I believe Kenrick is uniquely suited for this important position," says Jennifer Klotz-Ritter, president & CEO, Make-A-Wish Canada. "I am also delighted to welcome Peter as our latest board member and I look forward to his impact on our mission through his vast experience and network. Both Kenrick and Peter bring a wealth of knowledge that will help us move forward with our vision of granting the wish of every eligible child in Canada."

Current secretary, Eileen Uyede, will assume the position of vice-chair, and board member, Daniel Bourque, will move into the role of secretary. Lori Quick, CEO, Make-A-Wish® Southwestern Ontario, was elected to one of two chapter representative roles, replacing Ross Hetherington, CEO, Make-A-Wish® British Columbia & Yukon, who completed his term in May.

About Kenrick Sproul

Mr. Sproul first encountered the hope, strength and joy of the wish experience as a parent of two wish children. He was so impressed by all that Make-A-Wish® does that he wanted to be involved and help deliver the mission to more. He is a strong leader with over 20 years of experience in the Canadian Armed Forces, currently serving part-time as a lieutenant-colonel and is also director of learning and development and senior program manager with OpenText Corporation, Canada's largest software development company.

His key strengths include: strategic analysis and planning, customer service orientation, process analysis and enhancement, budget development and management, cultivating stakeholder relationships, workforce planning and staff management and risk assessment/management.

Mr. Sproul holds an MBA from Royal Roads University, is a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and has sat on the Board of Directors for Make-A-Wish at the Chapter level since 2006 and at the National level since 2008. He resides in Caledon, Ont. with his family.

About Peter Noonan

Mr. Noonan is a highly experienced professional with expertise in licensing, marketing and customer management. He has held positions with Unilever in sales and consumer/retail marketing, and with Bell in retail marketing.

He has held various positions with Disney since 2001. His most recent success was with the integration of Marvel and Lucasfilm into Disney consumer products within Canada, leading the Canadian business to record earnings.

Mr. Noonan holds an honours degree in psychology from Western University and very much looks forward to his new role with Make-A-Wish and using his experience to help deliver the charity's mission and propel the organization's vision forward.
