BETHESDA, MD--(Marketwired - June 25, 2015) - GetWellNetwork®, Inc., the leader in Interactive Patient Care™ (IPC) solutions, today announced that the O'Neil Center, the industry's first central resource dedicated to helping health care providers translate person and family engagement theory into practice, and the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing will co-sponsor a nurse scholars fellowship program. The new fellowship provides a unique opportunity for promising nurse-scientists to collaborate with thought leaders, clinical experts and other researchers in the dynamic field of person and family engagement.
As many as two candidates will be selected annually to participate in this one-year fellowship. Each fellow will design a meaningful, interactive experience with the O'Neil Center to meet their individual clinical and research goals. Upon completion of their fellowship, scholars will have the opportunity to continue their participation in O'Neil Center programs while contributing to scholarly research and publications.
The first candidates selected as O'Neil-Pitt scholars are University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing doctoral students Taya Irizarry and Teresa Hagan. The mentors for the program are Karen Drenkard, Ph.D., RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, chief clinical officer and chief nurse at GetWellNetwork and director of the O'Neil Center; Ellen Swartwout, Ph.D., RN, NEA-BC, vice president of research and analytics at GetWellNetwork and the O'Neil Center; Annette De Vito Dabbs, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing; and Heidi Donovan, Ph.D., RN, associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing.
