Imperva SecureSphere Now Available on Amazon Web Services GovCloud (US)

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., June 25, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Imperva, Inc. (NYSE:IMPV), committed to protecting business-critical data and applications in the cloud and on-premises, announced the availability of Imperva SecureSphere Web Application Firewall (WAF) on Amazon Web Services (AWS) GovCloud (US). As government agencies look to migrate their sensitive apps and workloads to the cloud, the implementation of cloud security becomes paramount. With Imperva SecureSphere, government agencies can protect their cloud applications and data from attacks, theft and fraud.

“Security is top of mind for many of our customers including U.S. government agencies, which is why it’s our number one priority at AWS,” said Stephen Schmidt, Chief Information Security Officer, Amazon Web Services, Inc. “Agencies are eager to take advantage of the many benefits the cloud offers like agility, elasticity, and cost savings. While customers benefit from AWS’ infrastructure security practices, we are thrilled to have Technology Partners like Imperva offering application security solutions on top of AWS.”

According to a 2014 Gartner report on application security, “Applications and data, not the infrastructure, are the main focus of modern cyberattacks.”1 Imperva SecureSphere is a comprehensive, cyber-security platform that understands modern vulnerabilities and includes web, database and file security. Imperva SecureSphere WAF delivers key benefits including: protecting against application-layer attacks, low-and-slow DDoS attacks and traffic from bot networks or based upon reputation. SecureSphere on AWS leverages important AWS capabilities like Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC), AWS CloudFormation, Elastic Load Balancing and Amazon CloudWatch. The announcement today marks the availability of SecureSphere security benefits in the AWS GovCloud (US) Region.

“As government organizations move applications to AWS, it’s important to move application protections there too,” said Morgan Gerhart, Vice President, Product Marketing, Imperva. “With proper application security defenses in place, critical data and applications have a reduced risk of exposure to web attacks, data theft and fraud. These defenses may also help agencies realize cost savings from remediation, rather than the cost increases typically associated with breach investigations.”

Imperva SecureSphere on AWS GovCloud (US) delivers an added layer of security by combining multiple defenses to accurately pinpoint and protect against attacks without hindering access for authorized users. It uses proprietary Imperva Dynamic Profiling Technology to automatically build a whitelist of acceptable user behavior. The Dynamic Profiling Violations then work with its Correlated Attack Validation technology to identify other suspicious activity to protect against attacks. Imperva SecureSphere is certified by ICSA Labs, is in compliance with PCI Data Security Standard 6.6 requirements and provides protection against the OWASP Top Ten. The AWS GovCloud (US) Region adheres to the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) as well as the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) requirements.
