TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - June 30, 2015) - Canada Border Services Agency
A vendor has been awarded the contract to provide an Immigration Holding Centre (IHC) for the Greater Toronto Region. The contract was awarded to Corbel Management Corp (Corbel) by Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) through a competitive process. The contract being announced today will help the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) deliver its National Detention Program in a more effective and sustainable manner, and will improve consistency and stability for detainees.
An IHC is a CBSA-administered detention facility where lower-risk immigration detainees are held. Corbel will provide the facility, which will be renovated to meet modernized design requirements, as well as provide housekeeping, maintenance and food services. The Centre will have capacity for 188 detainees, with additional temporary surge capacity for another 50 people. This will ensure that the CBSA continues to have a facility in the Region for lower-risk detainees.
