PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwired - Jul 14, 2015) - Jazz Jennings, 14-year-old celebrity transgender activist, children's book author and the subject of TLC's upcoming documentary series "I Am Jazz," will be visiting Arizona as the guest of honor of Arizona's not-for-profit one-n-ten to support the LGBT youth community and their allies. Jazz and her family will be featured at "An Evening of Jazz" from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on August 8 at the Bentley Gallery, 215 E. Grant Street, Phoenix, Arizona. Tickets are available now online for $15.00 at http://onenten.org/jazz/.

Highlights of the meet-and-greet event include a book signing of Jennings' children's book, "I am Jazz," an art auction, live jazz music performed by the Aletheia String Quartet and a cash bar. The evening will culminate with a speaking program featuring talks by Jazz and her mother, Jeanette. A moderated panel discussion with the Jennings family and a question and answer period will follow.

"It is heartbreakingly difficult to be a transgender youth in America," said Jazz. "To be transgender in our society means finding the courage again and again to overcome bullying, hostility and bureaucratic inflexibility. By sharing my story with Arizona's LGBT youth, I hope to show them what it really means to live your truth."

"As a youth activist, Jazz is a beacon of courage, and one-n-ten is thrilled to help her share her story with not only fellow transgender youth, but with allies from all over Arizona," said Linda Elliott, executive director, one-n-ten. "Jazz's visit marks a bright day for the Arizona LGBT community."
