GreenIQ Launches New Channel on IFTTT, Allowing Users to Control Their Gardens From Apple Watches, Android Wear, and 200 Apps and Devices

SAN FRANCISCO, CA and TEL AVIV, ISRAEL--(Marketwired - Jul 21, 2015) - Hosting a barbeque is a summer pastime, yet embracing your inner grill master while pulling off a pristine garden can be a juggling act. Thanks to GreenIQ and IFTTT, you can now, for the first time, create a personalized Apple Watch button to activate your sprinklers and turn on your landscape lighting with one tap. See the GreenIQ powered Apple Watch video here.

Israeli Internet of Things (IoT) startup, GreenIQ, and IFTTT, which gives you creative control over the products and apps you love, are teaming up to lead the smart garden revolution with the launch of a new Channel dedicated to the connected garden. GreenIQ Smart Garden Hub customers -- on iOS or Android -- can now craft their own commands and personalized buttons using GreenIQ Recipes on IFTTT to control their entire connected garden domain automatically or with just a simple tap.

King of the Connected Castle
GreenIQ's Smart Garden Hub -- think Nest for the garden -- combines real-time sensors, computing power and wireless communications to make gardens smarter, while reducing outdoor water usage and bills. Here are just a few examples of how you can use the GreenIQ Hub as your command center and benefit from the newly launched GreenIQ Channel on IFTTT:

  • One-Tap Apple Watch and Android Wear Control - Forget needing a smartphone or opening an app. With IFTTT's apps and the GreenIQ Hub, you can now activate your sprinklers and landscape lighting with a simple tap to your Apple Watch or Android-powered wearable.

  • Create Automatic Triggers and Alerts - Using other pre-configured GreenIQ Recipes you can also create automated triggers. The GreenIQ Hub is also compatible with smart home smoke detector, Nest Protect, allowing you to set up rules to turn on the sprinklers when smoke is detected. Or as you're just arriving home and pull up to your driveway, your smartphone GPS can detect your car approaching and apply a rule to automatically turn off sprinklers to avoid getting you or your car wet. Automatic tweets and text messages can also be initiated via the Hub to notify when key water-saving goals are reached.

  • Marry Your Google Calendar to Your Irrigation Program - If your garden party is scheduled in your Google Calendar, you can also sync with the GreenIQ Hub to avoid your sprinklers drenching your guests.

"We're thrilled to welcome the GreenIQ Channel to IFTTT," said Linden Tibbets, CEO at IFTTT. "GreenIQ Recipes will help people get the most out of their Smart Garden Hub by connecting their favorite apps and plants."

"Our mission is to make gardens smarter and allow people to feel more connected to their gardens," said Odi Dahan, founder and CEO at GreenIQ. "We teamed up with IFTTT to launch a dedicated connected garden channel to close the gap between garden and home automation, while allowing our customers to be in greater control of their connected domains."

The GreenIQ Hub is currently available online at The Home Depot for $249.
