AMREL's New Rugged Android Handheld

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwired - Jul 22, 2015) - AMREL, the premier rugged computer supplier, announced the launch of lightweight, power-saving ROCKY DF7A, a fully rugged handheld.

AMREL leveraged the ROCKY DF7A ARM architecture and its Android 4.1.2 operating system for low Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP). As a result, it is perfect for mobile applications that demand low footprints as well as energy thriftiness.

Designed to operate in even the most demanding environments, the ROCKY DF7A has been independently certified for MIL-STDs 810G/461F and IP66. It has successfully survived severe environmental testing for shock, vibration, altitude, high/low temperature and other challenging stressors. AMREL poured 30 years of its rugged computer experience into this handheld.

"In addition to its low footprint, the most notable thing about the ROCKY DF7A is probably the amazing number of connectivity options," declares Kalvin Chen, AMREL's VP of Operations. "The ROCKY DF7A packs a lot of choices for connectivity into a very compact platform."

Connectivity options include:

  • Top - In addition to an embedded antenna, there are two SMA connectors for your choice of external antennas.
  • Bottom - Three different locations for your choice of connectors. Connector options include RS232, USB, MLAN, and VGA.
  • Right - Micro SD/SIM slot.

"We've always been a customizing company," explains Mr. Chen. "We're very proud of our minimal NRE and fast turn-around time. The flexibility of the DF7A connectivity boosts our ability to speedily and economically design, prototype, and deliver our clients' solutions."

This easily configurable, rugged Android handheld is designed for:

  • Battlefield communication & data networking
  • Public Safety patrol duties
  • Non-destructive testing (Oil & Gas)
