Franklin Wireless Announces Launch of Bus Information System in Africa

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - Jul 22, 2015) - Franklin Wireless Corp. (OTCQB: FKWL), a market leader in broadband data communications including hardware and software solutions for M2M and the IoT (Internet of Things), today announced the launch of its Bus Information System (BIS) in the African country of Rwanda. Operating in the capital city of Kigali, this full end-to-end IoT solution was developed by Franklin Wireless and includes both software and hardware developed and engineered by the Company.

The BIS greatly enhances the overall experience for bus passengers in Kigali by providing real-time arrival information and free WiFi access on each bus. In addition, bus dispatch and scheduling operations are made more efficient by the BIS which tracks and reports the precise location of each bus in the fleet. This launch follows on the heels of a successful six-month long test in which the BIS underwent thorough testing and use.

This innovative BIS features Franklin's newly developed intelligent gateway that supports GPS, WiFi, OBD-II, video, black box integration and two-way communication and includes a fully functional information system. The BIS includes comprehensive remote vehicle monitoring including vehicle position, status and speed, which greatly improves dispatch management, regardless of fleet size. Using an application downloaded to a smart phone, tablet or PC, bus riders can access a wide array of pertinent information including bus routes and schedules, the estimated time of arrival for the next bus to any of the bus stop locations and weather forecasts. Once on board, the bus riders can access the Internet through the WiFi connection provided by the gateway.
