DLA Piper (Canada) LLP Expands Toronto Office With Four New Partners

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - July 22, 2015) - DLA Piper (Canada) LLP is pleased to announce our expansion of the firm's Toronto office with the addition of four new partners: Robert Fonn, Vaughn MacLellan, Derek Sigel and Kevin Fritz, effective August 1, 2015. Robert, Vaughn and Derek will enhance the firm's securities and corporate finance group and Kevin will further strengthen the firm's tax practice. The addition of this group of experienced lawyers signals our strategic growth in Canada.

Robert Fonn practises corporate and securities law, primarily relating to corporate finance and mergers & acquisitions mandates. His practice consists of advising on securities and business law matters, with particular focus on domestic and cross-border corporate finance and merger & acquisition transactions (including friendly and contested take-over bids and proxy contests).

Vaughn MacLellan practises in the areas of securities and corporate finance and corporate/commercial law. His practice focuses on advising issuers and investment dealers with respect to securities law matters generally, with an emphasis on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and securities compliance matters. Vaughn has experience acting on behalf of clients in a variety of industries including the mining, technology and real estate sectors.

Derek Sigel's practice is focused on corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions in the technology, telecommunications, electronic commerce, broadcasting and resource sectors. His practice has involved private financings, public financings, stock exchange listings, stockholder arrangements, corporate reorganizations and venture capital fund formation.

Kevin Fritz is focused on tax law, including corporate and personal tax planning, with a particular emphasis on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and business restructurings. Kevin also has experience in the tax structuring of mutual funds, income trusts and other investment products. He has acted for a wide array of clients, both domestic and international, including individuals, governments, Crown corporations, financial institutions and businesses of all sizes.
