Quick Facts

  • On November 24, 2014, Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced a $5.8-billion federal investment to build and renew infrastructure across the country. • Between 2009 and 2011, through the Economic Action Plan, Public Works and Government Services Canada invested over $400 million to deliver more than 2,300 infrastructure projects. These projects aimed to repair and renovate government facilities across the country while creating subcontracting opportunities for hundreds of small and medium-sized businesses across Canada.
  • Since implementing the Economic Action Plan in 2009, Canada has achieved the best job creation record, the strongest income growth and one of the best economic performances in the G7. Thanks to this initiative, over $63 billion has been invested, contributing to Canada's economic wealth.
