Zagster Expands Cleveland Bike Share (Again) With More Bikes as Well as New Locations and New Partners

CLEVELAND, OH--(Marketwired - Jul 28, 2015) - Zagster, the operator of Cleveland's public bike share program, today announced that due to high demand for its existing service as well as funding from new sponsors, it is further expanding the program. With station sponsorships from Cumberland Development, Notre Dame College, Detroit-Shoreway Community Development Organization, University Circle, Inc. and the Cleveland Public Library, Zagster is adding 28 more bikes at five new locations. This expansion brings the total number of bikes to 78 in the downtown area, a solid foundation from which to build a truly citywide program.

New locations, with five bikes and slots for 10 on the rack include:

• Superior Avenue at the library, sponsored by the Cleveland Public Library.
• The Campus of Notre Dame College sponsored by Notre Dame College
• The North Coast Harbor location near the lakefront sponsored by Cumberland Development

• Detroit and 58th by Happy Dog, sponsored by Detroit-Shoreway Community Development Organization
• Cleveland Museum of Art, sponsored by University Circle
  
  

"Given that we launched relatively late in the fall last year, we believe the best is yet to come for bike sharing in Cleveland," said Dana Allender, General Manager of Zagster's Midwest Region. "With the warmer weather, festivals, fairs, sports and entertainment downtown, we expect to see continued growth. Of course, without the support of all the sponsors, the program wouldn't be possible, and we're thrilled to see more and more partners stepping up."

These 78 bikes are available on-demand at nine locations for up to a 24-hour period. Pricing begins at $3 per hour with a cap at $24 for up to 24 hours. A $15 monthly or $75 annual fee includes unlimited rides under one hour, with additional hours being charged at $3 per hour to a maximum of $24. Bikes can be taken one way or round trip, but must be returned to a Zagster bike location. A map of locations is available online at www.zagster.com/Cleveland.

Residents can access the bikes by creating a Zagster account via the Zagster Mobile App, (available for iPhone and Android), or online at www.zagster.com/Cleveland. To rent a bike, riders simply login to their account, enter the unique ID number of the bike they wish to use and the app provides an access code for the lock box is provided.

Riders can use the code throughout the duration of their rental to lock and unlock the bike anywhere along their trip. Once the bike is returned to a Zagster location, the touch of a button ends the rental and releases the bike for the next rider.
