Beausoleil Child Care Centre: Ward councillor Fleury refuses to meet parents

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - July 28, 2015) - Local councillor Mathieu Fleury has turned down an invitation from the group SOS Beausoleil to discuss parents' concerns and work out mutually agreeable solutions to the closure of Beausoleil Child Care Centre.

"We wanted, as a small, informal group, to discuss the path to a solution with Councillor Fleury, but he refused," said Étienne Trépanier, representative of SOS Beausoleil.

Councillor Fleury told the group that he unfortunately had other engagements.

"We wanted to work to find solutions to mitigate the loss of 49 francophone child care places in our neighbourhood. However, Mr. Fleury's interest seem to be limited solely to finding alternative places for the affected children, without worrying about the long-term impact of the loss of a francophone child care centre like Beausoleil," emphasized Mr. Trépanier.

"It's disappointing to see that Councillor Fleury refuses to hear the concerns of the citizen in his ward," he added.

Given Fleury's refusal to take part in a meeting, SOS Beausoleil invites all parents who have children at Beausoleil Child Care Centre to gather this evening, Tuesday, July 28, at 7:30 p.m. at Patro d'Ottawa, 40 Cobourg Street, Ottawa. The many concerns raised by the closure of Beausoleil will be the focus of the evening's discussion.

The press and the public are invited to attend.
