Country-Level Top 10 Department Heads Earn More Than Double the Salary of Their Global Counterparts


RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC--(Marketwired - July 28, 2015) - Health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) department heads for Top 10 country-level affiliate teams earn more than double the salary of their global level counterparts, according to a recent report by pharmaceutical intelligence firm Cutting Edge Information.

The study, Building World-Class HEOR Teams: Creating Convincing Value Propositions for Payers, found that base salaries among surveyed department heads range from an average $167,000 for global groups to $350,000 at country-level Top 10s. Similarly, performance-based bonuses varied from $30,000 (global) to $193,000 (country-level Top 10).

Global HEOR groups surveyed report the smallest compensation variations across the team. On average, yearly pay -- both salary and bonus -- range from a potential $132,000 for analysts to $197,000 for department heads. Country-level affiliate groups report a wider range of salaries with Top 50 teams’ Tier 2 management earning an average $117,000 and Top 10 department heads earning an average $443,000.
