Onstream's framework closes the intelligence loop in the rapidly expanding world of connected devices. There are 4.9 billion connected devices currently online, and an expected 25 billion will be online by 2020, according to Gartner. But most of those devices are not intelligent -- they simply stream massive amounts of data to a database, server or cloud storage location for warehousing and possible future analytics. The framework is designed for OEMs (original electronics manufacturers) and solution providers seeking to create device intelligence from existing data streams or creating products that can be automatically updated with new product features.

The company's framework has been deployed to create smart traffic controls at a complex mine operation, saving a mining company more than $700,000 in a single year in fuel, vehicle maintenance and mine efficiency. The technology will also soon be used to drive intelligence in sporting equipment, wine-making, hydration systems, and industrial operations.
