Castro, the former President and Medical Director of New Beginnings Surgical Group, is joining Kim Bariatric Institute, a comprehensive weight loss surgery practice in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Frisco area. Dr. Castro has more than 20 years of experience as a bariatric surgeon and has performed over 3500 surgical weight loss procedures. Dr. David D. Dr. Castro is experienced with a number of advanced bariatric surgery procedures, including laparoscopic gastric sleeve surgery, gastric bypass, adjustable gastric banding, and revision weight loss surgery. After earning his medical degree, Dr. Manuel Castro completed his Residency in General Surgery at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan. He later completed a Fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at the University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinics in Minneapolis. In addition to his many years as a practicing bariatric surgeon in Dallas, Dr. Castro has served as an Assistant Clinical Professor and Director of the Trauma Program at Texas Tech University School of Medicine in El Paso.

Dr. Castro is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgical Critical Care, and a member of the Texas Medical Association.
