Verimatrix Secures Greece's Largest Pay-TV Service

Forthnet S.A. Chooses VCAS for Internet TV to Provide Robust Revenue Security for Growing Nova Service

AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS--(Marketwired - Sep 12, 2015) - IBC 2015 -- Verimatrix, the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-network, multi-screen digital TV services around the globe, today announced that Forthnet, the largest entertainment and communications provider in Greece, has deployed the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS™) for Internet TV solution to ensure the revenue security of its Nova GO service. Nova is the largest pay-TV satellite platform in Greece, which has reached record year-on-year subscriber growth rates.

NOVA offers subscribers a wide range of international and domestic programs plus the majority of popular Greek terrestrial TV channels along with a number of Greek terrestrial radio stations. Forthnet's network is comprised of both DVB-S MPEG-2 and DVB-S MPEG 4, with the Internet TV component being delivered over-the-top (OTT).

"Partnering with Verimatrix will not only enhance the revenue security of our Nova GO service, but will also optimize our integration with Huawei's Hybrid Video Platform and enable our subscribers to access more content on a wider range of devices," said Demetris Papazafeiropoulos, technical director, Forthnet. "When considering the limited CAPEX required and the proven nature of the VCAS technology, collaborating with Verimatrix was a logical choice."

Integrated with Huawei's Hybrid Video platform, VCAS for Internet TV enables combinations of multicast linear delivery with advanced adaptive bitrate streaming video services, while ensuring harmonized rights management for subscribers both at home and while on the go. The solution fully leverages enhanced HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) security for catch-up/on-demand and unicast linear services to hybrid STBs, mobile devices and smart TVs. Integrating VCAS for Internet TV with Huawei's Hybrid Video platform enables Forthnet to easily extend its OTT service to existing and new set-top boxes. Huawei served as the systems integrator for the project.

"Forthnet's commitment to customer satisfaction is clearly evident. We are happy to support their efforts by providing them with a robust and cost-effective revenue security solution that will seamlessly scale to incorporate new services and a growing subscriber base," said Steve Oetegenn, president, Verimatrix.

Verimatrix will showcase its breadth of multi-network solutions at its booth #4.A59 during IBC to illustrate the many advantages and capabilities of its VCAS™ architecture. For additional information or to book an appointment with the team at IBC 2015, please visit the Verimatrix website.
