CaptionCall Announces New Partnership With Turtle Beach Corporation for HyperSound Clear

SALT LAKE CITY, UT--(Marketwired - Sep 14, 2015) - Today, CaptionCall®, a leading provider of captioned telephone service for people who have difficulty hearing on the phone, announced a new partnership with Turtle Beach Corporation for the installation and service of its groundbreaking HyperSound Clear™ hearing healthcare device planned to launch this fall.

"CaptionCall empowers people who experience hearing loss to remain connected to loved ones via the telephone," notes Cameron Tingey, CaptionCall vice president of sales. "Our partnership with Turtle Beach will provide CaptionCall customers with another tool to stay connected with others through the enjoyment of home entertainment."

The CaptionCall phone and service provides customers with hearing loss the option to amplify the phone's audio, while simultaneously reading the conversation's text on the large CaptionCall screen. A communication assistant, located in a call center offsite, uses advanced speech recognition technology to quickly convert callers' words into text.

HyperSound Clear generates a highly-directional, controlled beam of audio in the air, similar to the way a flashlight directs a beam of light. When individuals enter HyperSound Clear's audio beam, they hear immersive, 3-D audio, which has been shown to improve the sound clarity and speech intelligibility in individuals with certain types of hearing loss.

"We're thrilled to partner with CaptionCall as a white-glove installation and service partner for HyperSound Clear, a device we believe will spark broader awareness in hearing healthcare," said Rodney Schutt, senior vice president and general manager for the HyperSound business at Turtle Beach Corporation.

Notes Tingey, "More than 48 million Americans suffer from hearing loss. Approximately eighty percent of people who go see a hearing healthcare specialist for the first time do so because they're having trouble hearing and understanding phone conversations and television audio. We think HyperSound Clear will be a great hearing healthcare device that directly addresses the issue of hearing and enjoying home entertainment."

About CaptionCall
CaptionCall is a revolutionary new telephone and service for anyone who has trouble hearing on the phone. While hearing loss affects millions of people for many different reasons -- age, illness, injury, loud working conditions and military service -- it doesn't have to limit the quality of their phone conversations. With CaptionCall, it's easy to communicate confidently with friends, family and colleagues.

Similar to captioned television, CaptionCall uses voice recognition technology and a transcription service to quickly provide written captions of what callers say on a large, easy-to-read screen. The CaptionCall phone works like a traditional telephone -- callers simply dial and answer calls, as usual, and speak and listen using a phone handset. CaptionCall users see captions of what callers say without missing a single word.

The CaptionCall phone, combined with the free, FCC-funded service and friendly customer support, enables people everywhere to get more from their phone conversations -- and more from life.
