Annual City-Wide Food Drive on Saturday


CALGARY, AB--(Marketwired - September 16, 2015) - Saturday Sept. 19 is the city's largest single-day food drive and this year's annual event is organized by an amazing 7,000 family volunteers.

For the past 11 years, the week prior to the food drive, volunteers leave collection bags and information flyers on the doorsteps of neighbourhoods throughout the city. The donations are then picked up from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Saturday.

Interview and Photo Opportunities:

When: Noon to 1 p.m.
Where: Westbrook Mall parking lot (1200 37 Street SW)
What: Kids and adults unloading food donations by the truck and car loads

When: 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Where: Calgary Food Bank, loading dock (5000 11 Street SE)
What: "Forklift Ballet" unloading food donations from the semi-trailers

If donation bags have not been picked up by 1 p.m. on Saturday, homeowners can call (587) 316-1623. Calgarians may also bring their non-perishable food donations to the Calgary Food Bank warehouse (5000 11 Street SE) until 5 p.m. or donate funds at www.calgaryfoodbank.com.
