Exterro, Today's General Counsel, EDRM and Actiance Announce First Annual "E-Discovery Day" to Celebrate E-Discovery's Vital and Growing Role in the Legal Process

Taking Place December 1, E-Discovery Day Will Include a Full Day of Educational Webcasts, Interviews and Other Educational Activities Put On by Exterro and Other Industry Leaders

PORTLAND, OR--(Marketwired - September 17, 2015) - Exterro® Inc., the preferred provider of software specifically designed for in-house legal and IT teams at Global 2000 organizations, in partnership with Today's General Counsel, EDRM and Actiance, today announced a full lineup of webcasts, content and other events in support of the first annual E-Discovery Day, December 1, 2015. These activities will bring together a diverse set of professionals to share experiences, discuss key trends and offer best practices with the goal of elevating e-discovery into the mainstream legal discourse.

"In today's digital world, e-discovery not only impacts legal risk but increasingly influences a company's bottom line. Despite these high stakes however, industry surveys continue to reveal that e-discovery competency, skill and confidence among legal practitioners and business leaders alike remains alarmingly low. Exterro and Today's General Counsel, EDRM and Actiance are launching E-Discovery Day as an industry-wide initiative aimed at promoting e-discovery awareness and education," said Bill Piwonka, chief marketing officer at Exterro. "We encourage all stakeholders within the e-discovery industry, including others in the vendor community, to join us in our efforts to increase awareness and competency within this critical business process."

"E-discovery is going to be with us for the long haul," noted George Socha, co-founder of EDRM, "which means that all of us working to resolve disputes need to improve our e-discovery IQ. With its webinars, content and other events, E-Discovery Day offers each of us a great opportunity to do just that."

E-Discovery Day Events
A dedicated website, www.e-discoveryday.com has been created to provide a central place for practitioners to find all activities associated with E-Discovery Day. In support of the first annual E-Discovery Day on December 1, 2015, Exterro has planned a number of events and activities, including:

  • CLE Webcasts on topical e-discovery issues with judges, lawyers, technologists and other influential thought leaders.
  • Interviews with e-discovery practitioners and industry experts.
  • First Annual Judicial Influencer of the Year Award recognizing the federal judge who made the biggest impact on e-discovery in the previous year, as voted on by his or her peers.
  • New White Papers & Reports highlighting e-discovery best practices and technology considerations.

"As the leading source of news, commentary and educational materials related to legal technology/aimed at the in house legal practitioner, Today's General Counsel is thrilled to be a founding supporter of this cross industry initiative. We anticipate broad support and envision great things in the years to come," said Stephen Lincoln, Chief Operating Officer, Today's General Counsel.

"The influx of social media into mainstream business communications has led to new mandates for regulatory and legal purposes," said Lisa Bergamo, Sr. Director Corporate Communications, Actiance. "We think E-Discovery Day is a great idea with lots of benefits for our clients and as a market leader we have an obligation to drive awareness of how companies can improve their legal operations by reducing the time and cost of eDiscovery. We look forward to sharing our expertise and advice on best practices for smarter eDiscovery."
