Beaconsfield to Hold Town Hall Meeting on Emergency Measures

BEACONSFIELD, QUÉBEC--(Marketwired - Sept. 21, 2015) - The City of Beaconsfield invites residents to an information evening on Monday, September 28 at 7 p.m. at the Herb Linder Annex, 303 Beaconsfield Boulevard at which will focus on emergency measures. We will address topics such as the City's emergency measures plan, the roles and responsibilities of the Agglomeration and our City should we face a disaster scenario and our preparedness for the first 72 hours in case of an emergency.

"We never say it enough: safety is a priority at all times. A disaster always comes unexpectedly. The industrialization and the presence of major transport routes mean that disaster risks are present and Beaconsfield is no exception, "said Mayor Georges Bourelle.

"Beaconsfield has a very complete emergency measures plan which is updated regularly. We should add that we collaborate closely with the Direction de la sécurité civile, emergency services and with all key players in security matters. We are ready to respond quickly and effectively in case of a disaster in our community. However, this preparation cannot be complete without citizen participation. In interest of transparency, we want to convey to our citizens as much information as possible so they can have a better idea about all the means and resources in place in case of disaster and emergency," said mayor Bourelle.

A question period is also provided so that residents can inquire about topics that have been addressed. This evening will be hosted by representatives of the Direction de la sécurité civile, the Red Cross and the City of Beaconsfield. Two door prizes of 72-hour emergency preparedness kits will be awarded at the end of the evening.
