Widen Named "Best Place to Work 2015"

Madison Magazine Recognizes Widen for Excellence in Employee Engagement, Manager Effectiveness, Trust in Leadership, and More

MADISON, WI--(Marketwired - September 22, 2015) - Widen Enterprises, a leading provider of software services that help marketing teams organize content, has been named one of Madison, Wisconsin's "Best Places to Work 2015." This annual survey, conducted by Madison Magazine and Quantum Workplace, evaluated Madison businesses on employee engagement, manager effectiveness, trust in leadership, compensation, benefits, and other criteria.

"Over the past few years, we have taken deliberate steps to create a culture of creativity, balance and freedom. This honor from Madison Magazine shows that continuous investment in employee wellness has paid off, and we're moving in the right direction," said Widen CEO Matthew Gonnering. "I'm proud to serve our team and lead a community that values health, happiness and prosperity."

Certified as a "Freedom-Centered Workplace" by WorldBlu, Widen has sustained an employee retention rate above 94 percent for the last three years. In addition, Widen's most recent employee satisfaction survey found that 97 percent of software employees would recommend Widen as a place to work.

Among employees, Widen has become known for its unconventional organizational practices. Everyone sits in a wide-open, cubicle-free environment where discussion and collaboration are highly encouraged. Casual dress, flexible work schedules, 'Hacker Days,' company Fireside Chats, Lunch & Learns, weekly standup meetings and one-on-one coaching sessions have all become cornerstones of Widen culture. Employees also enjoy an onsite exercise room with locker rooms and showers, a bike fleet to use for fitness or meetings on the trail, a private mother's room, and craft coffee from local roasters.

In the survey, Quantum Workplace invited employees to provide optional, anonymous responses to open-ended questions. One Widen employee said the following:

"I enjoy working in a freedom-centered, democratic work environment like Widen because it empowers individuals, both long-tenured employees and new hires alike, to freely speak their mind and share their creative ideas without fear of being judged by others. Creativity is a huge part of the culture at Widen, and it's fostered through regular team meetings where everyone is encouraged to share their feedback - be it good or bad, casual "lunch and learns" to discuss new product ideas with team members in other departments, and a work-life balance that gives us the time and freedom to take a step back and think outside of the box about ways we can do our job differently. Organizational goals couldn't be more transparent, and Widen gives us all of the tools and free reign to accomplish those goals."

"Employees here can choose their desired path and work on projects they feel passionate about," said Heather Kleist, Human Resources Lead at Widen. "This gives employees the opportunity to continually reinvent themselves, the company, and the marketing technology we create. We have a meaningful sense of pride in our work and gratitude for our clients who teach and motivate us."
