Network Monitor now gives IT professionals the ability to actively monitor Linux-based server environments, invite colleagues to view and create custom dashboards, fine-tune alert settings, and better understand communication issues associated with offline devices.

Introduced in December 2014, Spiceworks' Network Monitor can be installed and up-and-running in as little as 10 minutes. The application helps IT professionals understand what's happening in their environment by providing a dashboard showing more than 25 possible sensors including network utilization and server activity including disk and CPU usage, system memory, active services and processes, and other network data.

New features include:

• Linux monitoring capabilities provide IT professionals with a way to stay up to date on the health of critical Linux-based servers. With Network Monitor, Linux administrators can keep important workloads including databases, web and proxy servers, and file servers running in top condition. The new functionality enables users to monitor system processes and services, CPU utilization, disk I/O, memory latency, and other system statistics of the most popular Linux distributions including Ubuntu, Debian, SUSE, Red Hat, CentOS, and Fedora.
  
  
• Multiple user support gives IT team members the ability to keep tabs on their environment together, limiting the possibility of a catastrophic failure. Once invited, team members can not only view the shared dashboard but they can also customize it to include other network devices they'd like to actively monitor. 
  
  
• Customized threshold editing and alerting enables IT professionals to fine tune when and how they're alerted by devices in their environment. It allows them to customize thresholds for particular situations, such as adjusting memory utilization for a memory-intensive application. IT professionals can also set thresholds for individual network switch ports, hard drives, network cards, and other technologies they want to monitor. 
  
  
• Online device communication warnings now notify IT professionals when Network Monitor is no longer able to communicate with a device that's known to be online. This helps users address the issue by reconfiguring a firewall, WMI service, password, or make other settings changes.
