TEL AVIV, ISRAEL--(Marketwired - September 28, 2015) - SmartMetric, Inc. (OTCQB: SMME) -- SmartMetric is the creator of the world's first biometric activated EMV chip in a credit/debit card.

Replacing the reliance on inferior security such as PINs (Personal Identification Number) or signatures, SmartMetric has created a credit/debit card that uses one's own fingerprint to turn on the payment card's EMV chip prior to the card being able to be used for a transaction. The SmartMetric Biometric Payments Card is totally interoperable with existing chip card (EMV) readers and ATMs, therefore it is able to benefit from the existing global chip card banking and retail infrastructure.

More than 3.4 billion (EMV) chip cards have been issued globally. These chip cards are now being released throughout the United States, bringing the USA into line with the majority of the credit card using world. SmartMetric designed and built its biometric payments card to be compatible with the banking infrastructure for EMV chip cards, giving the SmartMetric biometric solution the advantage of being deployable by the leading banks and financial institutions globally.

Speaking from the SmartMetric engineering and development center in Tel Aviv, Israel, the USA-based company is preparing for the release of its world's first biometric activated EMV chip card. We had planned on releasing our advanced technology card in the first quarter of 2016 as reported in our company filings. It is with a great sense of accomplishment that we are now able to announce that we will be releasing our card within the next 30 days, said SmartMetric's President and CEO, Chaya Hendrick.

SmartMetric has moved its electronics and card manufacturing to Asia, giving the company the capacity to produce up to 250,000 cards per week. The company is planning on working on increasing this capacity to over 1 million cards per week, giving the company the ability to provide banks and financial institutions the product supply as and when needed.
