The Clubs of Kingwood Teams Take Top Two Spots at Acura ClubCorp Champions Classic at Pinehurst Resort

More Than 90 Teams From Private Clubs Competed for Putter Boy Trophy


DALLAS, TX--(Marketwired - October 02, 2015) - Teams from The Clubs of Kingwood from Kingwood, Texas, beat out more than 90 teams from ClubCorp clubs around the country to take the two top spots during the 2015 Acura ClubCorp Champions Classic -- one of the largest private club national tournaments of its kind -- held at Pinehurst Resort Sept. 9-13.

The winning team, comprised of Darrell Fuston, Kingwood Director of Golf, and members Bryan Daniele, Steve Mayon, Scott Peden, and Travis Wiley, ended the 54-hole shamble quota, where points are earned on each hole, with a score of +55.25. The second place Kingwood team, comprised of Jordan Fain, First Assistant Golf Professional from Walnut Creek Country Club in Mansfield, and Kingwood members Billy, Isom, JB Sowyrda, Ryan Tucker, and Shawn Tucker, scored a +55.5.

As the winners of the tournament -- now in its 29th year -- the Kingwood players were presented with Putter Boy Trophies and a traveling trophy, which will be displayed at the club until next year's event. The 54-hole shamble quota format tournament included a round on the legendary No. 2 Course, site of three U.S. Opens Championships, Course No. 4 and Course No. 8. The five-day event included cocktails receptions and dinners nightly, Acura Guest Drives, and on-course competitions daily.
