SHAKER and Banking Client Selected as Winners of Human Resource Management Impact Awards

Organizations Recognized for Developing Highly Effective, Evidence-Based Approach to Assessing Candidates and Hiring Right-fit Talent

CLEVELAND, OH--(Marketwired - Oct 5, 2015) - SHAKER, the market leader in custom simulations for pre-employment testing, today announced that it, along with its client, one of the largest bank holding companies in the U.S., have been recognized as winners of the 2015 Human Resources Management (HRM) Impact Awards.

Presented by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the HRM Impact Awards recognize organizations demonstrating the most effective, evidence-based HR practice or initiative. The two companies were honored for their joint project in which SHAKER helped its client implement a new multi-method, pre-employment assessment and realistic job preview to facilitate the hiring of its call center and operations talent. This initiative was developed to enhance the company's hiring processes, provide a more positive candidate experience and increase job-fit, on-the-job performance and retention.

The new assessment consists of a core set of modules relevant for all of the company's call center and operations roles, which is then augmented by job-specific modules for 38 specific positions. Through situational judgment scenarios, biodata items, various simulation components and realistic job previews, the new assessment module provides candidates with a better sense of what the job and company are about and gives the company's hiring managers greater insight to predict on-the-job success. Following implementation, the company documented significant improvement in its hiring processes. Some of the results included increased new hire retention, improved new hire performance, reduced candidate assessment time, and a more engaging and educational candidate experience.

"Research shows assessments comprising measures of biodata, situational judgment and work style are among the most highly valid tools for predicting workplace performance; we are pleased to have helped our client develop a new approach to hiring that includes these crucial factors," said Eric Sydell, Ph.D., vice president, Innovation and Research of SHAKER. "Although our client's documented success following the implementation of the new assessment is reward enough, we are delighted that the HRM Impact Award review committee has recognized this achievement as well and honored us with this prestigious award."

SHAKER and its client were formally recognized as winners of the 2015 HRM Impact Awards on Friday, October 2, 2015 at the 2015 SIOP Leading Edge Consortium at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront in Boston, Mass. The companies will also be honored for this achievement during the SHRM Volunteer Leaders' Summit, to be held at the Marriott Marquis in Washington, D.C. November 20 - 22, 2015.
