M2M Spectrum Networks Joins LoRa Alliance

M2M Spectrum Networks Partners with LoRa Alliance Members to Drive the Global Success of the LoRa Protocol

NEW HOPE, Pa., Oct. 6, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - M2M Spectrum Networks (M2M SN), a complete M2M solutions provider, announced today that it has joined the LoRa Alliance, the largest concentrated effort by industry leaders with a mission to standardize Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) being deployed around the world to enable the vast opportunity for the Internet of Things (IoT) and machine-to-machine (M2M) communications.

M2M SN is joining Semtech, IBM, Cisco and others to drive the global success of the LoRa protocol (LoRaWAN) in creating a new ecosystem for M2M and the Internet of Things (IoT) which overcomes the intrinsic challenges that hamper existing, high-speed-only, broadband networks in developing pervasive IoT solutions.

Barclay Knapp, CEO of M2M Spectrum Networks commented, "The LoRa Alliance's goals mirror those of M2M Spectrum Network's, namely, lowering M2M device and connectivity costs, increasing communication ranges and extending battery lives versus those found in existing smart devices operating on broadband-only networks. By sharing knowledge and experience to guarantee interoperability between operators in one open global standard, M2M Spectrum Networks and our fellow LoRa Alliance members will significantly accelerate the IoT's development toward the many billions of devices expected to be connected over the next decade."

"By specifically integrating and combining Semtech's industry leading LoRaWAN TM technology with M2M Spectrum Networks' licensed, national network system utilizing DARTWAN TM, a new, specially tailored class of IoT devices will be realized for our customers," added Jeff Downs, M2M Spectrum Networks' Senior Vice President of Corporate Development.

LoRaWAN TM (Long Range Wide Area Networks) endpoints have distinctive properties that make it well suited to be cost effectively deployed for a wide range of M2M applications and uses such as:

  • Asset Tracking and Micro Tracking
  • Medical and eHealth
  • Industrial Monitoring and Controls
  • Agricultural/Livestock Control and Monitoring
  • Environmental Monitoring
  • Smart Cities
  • Smart Homes and Buildings
  • Utility Electric and Water Metering

M2M Spectrum Networks through its partner vendors has developed LoRa modules and modems that that are GPS enabled, provide optimal battery life, are Multi-Broadcast capable, IPV6 enabled, all with AES128 security to make M2M communications secure against tampering.

M2M Spectrum Networks will be unveiling its full suite of LoRa enabled devices in Q1 2016. M2M Spectrum Networks looks forward to working with the LoRa Alliance and invites applications developers and customers who are interested in developing solutions for the next generation of the Internet of Things to contact loraiot(at)m2mspectrum.com.
