King & Spalding Teams With Former Wisconsin Attorney General and National Association of Attorneys General President J.B. Van Hollen

Move Expands Firm's State Attorneys General Practice

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - October 07, 2015) - King & Spalding is pleased to announce that it has entered into a strategic alliance with former U.S. Attorney and Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen, enhancing the firm's bench strength on issues before state attorneys general across the country.

First elected in 2006 and reelected by an overwhelming majority in 2010, Van Hollen served two terms as Wisconsin's 43rd attorney general. Van Hollen earned bipartisan praise during his service as the state's attorney general, as a proactive law enforcement leader who tackled such challenging issues as cybercrime, school safety, counterfeiting, prescription drug abuse, privacy, identity theft, homeland security and violent crime. In 2013, Van Hollen was elected by his peers to serve as president of the bipartisan National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG).

Van Hollen will work closely with King & Spalding partner Gary G. Grindler, who served as Acting Deputy Attorney General of the United States and Chief of Staff to the Attorney General, and J.C. Boggs, a partner in the firm's Government Advocacy and Public Policy practice. Van Hollen will also work with other attorneys active in the firm's State AG practice, especially the firm's special matters & government investigations group, led by Chris Wray.

"Our collaboration with Attorney General Van Hollen will allow us to add yet another level of service to our clientele when interacting with state attorneys general across the country and on both sides of the political aisle," said Wray, who served from 2003 to 2005 as the Assistant Attorney General in charge of the U.S. Department of Justice's (DOJ) Criminal Division.

According to Van Hollen, "For eight years as Attorney General, I worked on a daily basis with the governor, the federal government, the law enforcement community, AGs from other states and the business sector, as well as with consumers. My mission was to seek out the best policies in a balanced manner and get things done. I plan to bring that common sense, results-orientated approach to King & Spalding and its clients."

King & Spalding has been at the forefront in representing clients who have found themselves the targets of state AG investigations or claims for more than three decades. The firm's lawyers have significant experience in serving as national or coordinating counsel in multiparty, multistate investigations and are veterans of the document production and discovery wars that frequently come with such investigations.

Over the years, King & Spalding has represented clients in state AG investigations and litigation across all 50 states and the District of Columbia and across a wide range of practice areas, including government investigations; environmental and toxic tort litigation; business litigation; data security breaches and policies; healthcare/pharmaceuticals; antitrust and consumer fraud; public finance; and financial services/insurance.
