Terrible Herbst, Inc. Replacing Existing POS System With Gilbarco's Passport at 108 Sites

Gilbarco's Industry-Leading Passport(R) and Companion Product Impulse(TM) Chosen for Reliability and Merchandising Capabilities

GREENSBORO, NC--(Marketwired - October 07, 2015) - Gilbarco Veeder-Root announced today that Terrible Herbst, Inc. will be replacing their existing POS systems at all 108 stores with Passport® POS system and Impulse™ upselling platform. The Las Vegas-based convenience store company places an emphasis on creative marketing, and Gilbarco offers the technology to support those marketing initiatives within their desired timeline.

Terrible Herbst selected the Gilbarco suite for its reliability, flexible merchandising functionality and availability on the Chevron network. Passport's innovative design will allow them to streamline their EMV upgrades, thanks to the proven interface with their existing dispensers.

"We're known for our out-of-the-box customer giveaways and promotions," said Terrible Herbst's Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Mark Walters. "Passport and Impulse are proven solutions that will make them even more targeted and effective."

"The Impulse upselling platform has led to sales increases of 3-5% for our customers," said Gilbarco's Vice President of Marketing, North America, Travis Bouck. "Impulse allows Terrible Herbst to control their promotions, delivering relevant content that drives their customers to purchase additional items in-store."

Passport POS is known in the industry for its streamlined design and easy to use touch screen that shortens new employee training time and speeds up the time it takes to serve customers. This EMV-ready POS is also recognized for its open interfaces to third party c-store systems, enabling convenience store owners to satisfy their consumers' desire for loyalty, merchandising and discount opportunities.

Impulse™ Gilbarco's countertop merchandising platform, uses a proprietary affinity engine that monitors POS transactions in real-time and performs predictive analytics, displays the most relevant offer on a customer-facing touch screen, and then signals the cashier to the upsell opportunity. When combined with Passport, the Impulse upselling platform reaches c-store customers during check out to provide relevant and timely communications or offers, and maximize upsell opportunities.
