SmartMetric "In-Card Biometrics" Turns the User Into the Security Key, Say Goodbye to Vulnerable Passwords and PINs and Say Hello to Fingerprint Full Proof Identity Verification Using the Power of Biometrics

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - October 14, 2015) - SmartMetric, Inc. (OTCQB: SMME) -- SmartMetric, the creator of the world's first biometric activated EMV chip in a credit/debit card, has created a safer and stronger security credential than what is being used currently in both the banking and data security world.

Using a person's fingerprint as the security key for credit card transactions provides a security method that goes significantly beyond the security limitations of passwords and PINs (Personal Identification Numbers) used today in the banking world. Nothing to remember, nothing to write down. You become the security key. Leaving the data thieves out in the cold.

"While making credit and debit cards immeasurably safer with the addition of biometric reading technology embedded inside the credit/debit card our system works with the existing card infrastructure such as EMV terminals and ATM's. The SmartMetric biometric card system in fact still allows banks to use lesser security measures such as PINs, tokens or signatures but layers the very strong biometric identity verification over the cards security structure. We have taken existing systems and added biometrics in a ubiquitous manner that takes credit and debit card security to a whole new level. Benefiting both the card issuer and card user alike," said SmartMetric's President and CEO, Chaya Hendrick, today.

The SmartMetric biometric payments card is the world's first credit/debit card that uses the SmartMetric miniature fingerprint scanner built inside the credit/debit card. A person's fingerprint is used to activate the card's EMV chip. The company uses the same banking industry EMV chip that is now being used around the world. There are more than 3.4 billion chip cards issued globally with an estimated additional 1 billion EMV cards added to this global figure from the United States, adoption of the EMV chip technology for its credit and debit cards.

Replacing the reliance on inferior security such as PINs (Personal Identification Numbers) or signatures, SmartMetric has created a credit/debit card that uses one's own fingerprint to turn on the payment card's EMV chip prior to the card being able to be used for a transaction. The SmartMetric Biometric Payments Card is totally interoperable with existing chip card (EMV) readers and ATMs, therefore it is able to benefit from the existing global chip card banking and retail infrastructure and allow for rapid deployment and adoption.
