Made To Last Chosen as Feature Custom Home Builder in Homes & Cottages Magazine

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Oct. 13, 2015) - Made To Last, a custom home builder based in Vancouver Island has been chosen by Homes & Cottages Magazine as the Feature Builder.

The current issue of the national publication shone the spotlight on an ocean-front recreational cabin on Thetis Island on the West Coast. Working in tandem with a designer from Tamlin International Homes, Made To Last was able to overcome many of the obstacles that had to be overcome to allow the ocean-front cottage to have the ocean view that was such a large part of the cabin's charm.

Made To Last was able to have the home retain parts of its original structure, but also make the cottage functional and comfortable year-round. Some of the main added features include:

  • a large amount of functional hidden storage;
  • extending the home length by 4 feet;
  • open beams throughout the home;
  • a stable foundation;
  • natural materials to blend into the surroundings;
  • custom cabinetry and more.

"Our goal to help Rodney and Myrna turn their recreational property into a full-time dwelling was a success and we couldn't be happier with the results," says Made To Last owner Steven Fitzpatrick. "We were able to use the bones of the old structure and create something totally unique, functional, natural and beautiful."

Made To Last is a new and custom home builder that caters to the Malahat, Mill Bay, Cowichan Bay, Shawnigan Lake, Duncan, Lake Cowichan, Chemainus, Crofton, and Ladysmith regions. They also serve Thetis Island, the Southern Gulf Islands and Saltspring Island. They do renovations, new home builds, and general contracting.
