Norm Champ, Former SEC Director of the Division of Investment Management, Announces Two Speaking Engagements


NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Oct 14, 2015) - Norm Champ, a lecturer on investment management at Harvard Law School and former Director of the Division of Investment Management at the SEC, will be speaking at two events hosted by the Managed Funds Association, an industry organization established to enable key players in the alternative investment management space to participate in public policy discourse:

  • October 15th, New York, NY, at the Annual Hedge Fund Leadership Conference.
    Champ will moderate the session "The Global Outlook for Financial Regulation".

  • October 27th, London, UK, at the Inaugural Global Regulatory Summit 2015.
    Champ will moderate the session on how the Current U.S. Regulatory Framework Compares and Contrasts to EU Reforms.

"Financial regulations are becoming increasingly complex as funds operate in multiple jurisdictions," Champ said. "There is need for better understanding and greater uniformity of regulations between countries allowing funds to operate seamlessly globally. These issues must be addressed in order to facilitate the growth of securities markets to provide capital to innovative businesses."

Norm Champ (http://normchamp.com/ @NormBChamp) is the former Director of the Division of Investment Management at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Mr. Champ is working on a book about his experience at the SEC. He is teaching his Investment Management course at Harvard Law School, having completed a term as Visiting Scholar in the spring. Before joining the SEC in 2010, Mr. Champ was Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Chilton Investment Company, an investment adviser to long/short equity hedge funds and managed accounts. Mr. Champ has an A.B., summa cum laude, in History from Princeton University and a J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School. He was a Fulbright Scholar at King's College London where he received his M.A. in War Studies. Prior to joining Chilton in 1999, Mr. Champ was with the law firm of Davis Polk & Wardwell and clerked for the Honorable Charles S. Haight, Jr. of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
